Police in Westport stopped Easton resident John Finneran at approximately noon on Aug. 2, when officers received a report of a man driving erratically on Main Street. Officers eventually tracked down the car and conducted a traffic stop on Kings Highway North.
While speaking with the 59-year-old man, police said that the officers detected alcohol on Finneran’s breath. Two bottles of vodka, one empty, one sealed, were found in the back of his car.
Finneran failed several Standardized Field Sobriety Tests, and he was arrested. Finneran has been charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs or alcohol and was released on $500 bond. He is due to appear in Norwalk Court on Thursday to answer the charge.
